Baseball

Baseball during the spring and early-summer in Hartford has become a long-standing tradition that dates back many years, and in many cases, back many generations. Throughout the very successful past of this sport, thousands and thousands of young participants have crafted and mastered their skills on the diamonds dotting our city’s southern landscape using the programs that our organization created specifically with our youth in mind. These young athletes play organized youth baseball through our programs seeking victories on the playing field, but more importantly, these young athletes are taught by coaches and volunteers throughout the community who emphasize important life skills over winning, such as respecting others, honor, integrity and sportsmanship; skills needed in life far behind the gates of our facilities.

When you join our programs, please know that the athlete in your family will always be in good hands. Players will receive valuable knowledge about the sport of baseball from those same coaches and volunteers we mentioned above; all of which enjoy coaching our educational athletics and working with their players, with the goal to make them better athletes on the diamond, but more importantly, better people throughout their communities away from it. In the end, coaches encourage everyone to just have fun, because that is what youth sports should always be about!

This season promises to be another action-packed year full of outstanding competition, excitement and fun for our great Hartford families. This should be true for every player, coach, family member and loyal fan who shows up to support their favorite team or player and love the sport of baseball just like we do. We invite everyone to join us this season and learn why our fields are known for not only building winners on the field, but also fabulous young people in our community, as well.

Current Season Information

The 2022 baseball season is officially underway as we write this statement! Teams were selected in late-March, and practices began as students returned to the classroom after spring break. The first pitches of the regular season will take place on Monday, May 2nd. Game schedules for the 2022 season have been posted and may be found on the right-hand side of this web page under the ‘Game Schedules’ section. Viewers to our web site may access our league and division-specific rules on the right-hand side of this web page under the ‘League Rules’ section. Additional information may be attained by looking throughout the remainder of our web site or on our social media channels, which will be updated throughout the season.

All of us with the Hartford Council for Recreation are looking forward to an exciting and safe 2022 baseball season. With more than 200 participants playing baseball, softball and T-Ball this spring, we are certainly very grateful for the continued support we receive throughout the community for our youth sport initiatives. We look forward to seeing everyone around the diamonds this year!
