Baseball

Baseball, during the spring in Hartford, has become a long-standing tradition dating back decades, and in many cases with families, generations. Throughout its very successful history, thousands and thousands of young participants have crafted and mastered their skills on the diamonds in our city’s southern landscape, thanks to the programs that our organization has created, specifically with our youth in mind. These talented young athletes play organized youth baseball seeking victories on the playing field, but more importantly, those who play in our system are taught by coaches and volunteers from the community, who emphasize important life skills over just wins, such as respecting others, honor, integrity and sportsmanship; skills needed in life far beyond the gates of our facilities.

When you join our programs, please know that the athlete in your family will always be in good hands. Participants will receive valuable knowledge about the sport of baseball from those same coaches and volunteers we’ve mentioned before, all of whom enjoy coaching educational athletics and working with their players. The goal, at the end of the day, is to make them better athletes on the field, but more importantly, better people in the community away from it. When you think about it, coaches should encourage everyone to just have fun, because that is what youth sports should always be about!

This season promises to be another action-packed year full of outstanding competition, excitement and fun for our great Hartford families. This should be true for every player, coach, family member, loyal fan and spectator, who show up to support their favorite player or team, and love the sport of baseball, just like we do. We invite everyone to join us this season and learn why our fields are known for not only building winners on the field, but also fabulous young people in our community, as well.

Current Season Information

The 2023 baseball season is officially underway as we write this statement! Teams were selected during the month of March, and practices began as students returned to the classroom after spring break. The first pitches of the regular season will take place on Monday, May 1st. Game schedules for the 2023 season have been posted and may be found on the ‘Events’ page of our web site, as well as on the home page under the ‘Events’ section. Those visiting our web site may also access league and division-specific rules on the right-hand side of the page, under the ‘League Rules’ section. Any additional information may be attained by looking through the remainder of our web site or on our social media channels, which will be updated throughout the season.

Everyone with the Hartford Council for Recreation is looking forward to an exciting 2023 baseball season that awaits us. With more than 200 participants playing in one of our spring sports programs, we are certainly thankful for the continued support we receive throughout the community every year. We look forward to seeing everyone around the fields this year!
