Hartford Council for Recreation

Softball in the spring and early-summer in Hartford is a long-standing tradition that causes us to dwell back years, and in many cases, back generations. Throughout the storied and successful past that is the sport of softball, thousands and thousands of young participants have crafted their skills on the diamonds that dot the southern landscape of our city. Sure, every young lady who participates dreams about being victorious and becoming a champion and holding that first-place trophy high in the air. But the programs that our organization has created for our youth isn’t always just about those lofty dreams. For many, it’s not about who wins or who loses, but more about the lifelong lessons you learn, such as leadership, respect and sportsmanship; three such qualities needed for all young people as they head into the next chapter of their lives.

When you join our programs, please know that the athlete in your family will always be in good hands. Players receive valuable knowledge about the sport of softball from coaches and volunteers that enjoy coaching our educational athletics and working with their players, with the goal to make them better athletes on the diamond, but even better people in their communities away from it. In the end, our coaches just encourage every single player to just have fun, because that is what youth sports should always be about!

This season promises to be another action-packed year full of outstanding competition, excitement and fun for our great Hartford families. This should be true for every player, coach, family member and loyal fan who shows up to support their favorite team or player and love the sport of softball just like we do. We invite everyone to join us this season and learn why our fields are known for not only building winners on the field, but also fabulous young people in our community, as well.

Current Season Information

The 2022 softball season is officially underway as we update this statement! Teams were selected back in late-March, and practices began as families returned to normalcy after spring break. The first pitches of the regular season will take place on Tuesday, May 3rd. Game schedules for the 2022 season have been posted and may be found on the right-hand side of this web page under the ‘Game Schedules’ section. Viewers to our web site may access our league and division-specific rules on the right-hand side of this web page under the ‘League Rules’ section. Additional information may be attained by looking throughout the remainder of our web site or on our social media channels, which will be updated throughout the season.

All of us with the Hartford Council for Recreation are looking forward to an exciting and safe 2022 softball season. With more than 200 participants playing baseball, softball and T-Ball this spring, we are certainly very grateful for the continued support we receive throughout the community for our youth sport initiatives. We look forward to seeing everyone around the diamonds this year!
